Benefits of listing on the luciddirectory

The Lucid Directory is a new service in New Zealand aimed at helping primarily small businesses and organisations get more exposure on the internet.

I realise there are already many directories in New Zealand and many of them are doing a wonderful job and I am very supportive and often highly recommend them to my clients.

As a web and graphic designer, I work closely with a lot of small businesses and the biggest problem facing them is getting found on the internet—small websites are just little fish in a rapidly growing sea.

Why another directory?

I think there is a need for another directory; especially one that is clean and clear and easy to use and focuses on making listings easy to find in major search engines while also being a pleasure to use in its own right.

The lucid directory links directly to your website so search engines such as Google will record this link as a "vote" for your website, which ultimately helps its ranking.

Where are the categories and listing levels?

Listings are assigned keywords (or search tags) and you can add as many keywords as you like to describe your business or organisation. Visitors can search for listings by click on keywords under a listing or by clicking on the search tags in the right column. Google (and other search engines) also index these keywords making it easier to find your website.

We've done away with listing levels (such as gold, silver and bronze) as we feel that all businesses and organisations should be equal in the directory. This is because the Lucid Directory needs to be easy and transparent for the end users (the potential visors to your website) and we think it seems somewhat unfair for businesses or organisations to be found more easily simply because they paid more for a listing that appears first when they are not necessarily the closest match to what the searcher is looking for.

Other features included on this site

In what could be a first for New Zealand directories, the lucid directory offers an RSS feed. This is particularly useful for those in the industry such as booking agencies, travel agents, marketing people etc who want to keep an eye on new or updated listings.

With a compatible browser or RSS newsfeed reader, people can browse a list of sites on in this directory easily and efficiently and highlight newly added sites.
